Oh man, back in my day it was ISO 9000 and my Corporation (who went from 24,000 to 3,000 prior to selling out) had massive layoffs so they could afford to hire staff to support the new standards.... ironic, isn't it?!

Very cool. I read your page about the electric setup which was interesting as those are some of the same type of parts I use for electric airplanes.

I wonder what your electric setup could do with lithium polymer batteries?

    Dave,

The Golden Eagle wheel pulley continues to work great. The utilized spokes are non-butted stainless spokes (~2.1mm thick), and they continue to hold without incident.

Full power acceleration? That was never a design goal, and until I upgrade the ESC's capacitors, I'm not testing that (as I simply dont want to smoke a $200 ESC).

The clutch...I completed the lathe work late Sunday, and am planning to start/complete an assembly writeup, w/ pictures, by mid-week.

    Greg,
Can you give some recent updates and details on how you built the "clutch"? Also, I am thinking of buying that Golden Eagle hoop, how much power will it take? I want to run around 2kw. Have you noticed any spoke warping? Have you tested your system with full power acceleration? Sorry for all the questions, you are the trailblazer here and I am riding blind. haha
Thanks,
Hi,
Have a look at this device I haven't tried it yet
however I just ordered one.

I still need to order the dia cable aswell.

The device I am talking about: "Stereo BlueTooth HeadPhone A2DP Handsfree BS509 bla"

It sold on ebay for less then 30 dollars.

It includes a microphone and a standard audio jack socket

it's small and light. Hopefully it will sort my mobile phone ~hearing issues.

The next step is of cause to make it truly wireless

Have a good day,
I obtained what appears to be a white version of the connevans stereo cable earlier this year. The 1m cable was apparently a sample that harcmercantile.com (located in MI, as am I) had obtained from a manufacturer, and HARC had yet to decide whether to sell it. Not sure if they have decided to yet either, though I let them know of my satisfaction.

Prior to using that particular cable, I'd gone through two (and have a third) monaural cables from Phonak. Gut instinct says that the material of my white cables will last longer than Phonak's.

In between, I tried wires that look identical to those from the Hearling Loss Help Co. My audiologist got a beige version from Oticon (iirc) (probably the actual manufacturer). But it was ugly and too short; I got rid of it.

I'm not exactly sure what attenuation refers to, at least between definitions of the word, and my personal experiences. The HARC cable is far louder than the Phonak cables are. (aka, I need higher volume for the Phonak cable)

The Phonak cables, by the way, have some circuitry in them, in the Y-joint section. Here's a picture of said wires made using a scanner:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/ERelson/hearingaidsscan.png?t=1195656472

My only complaints about what seems to be my version of the Connevans wires is that they're slightly short (and I'm slightly tall), so it doesn't quite reach the distance from my pocket to my hearing aids (MP3 player in pocket), and also that it's very effective at receiving inductance interference*, and interference from my laptop (but only when the laptop is plugged in, not when it's on battery; probably resolvable by getting a grounded power adapter). The rubber texture's only a problem with certain machines when working out.

I intend to query my contact at HARC to see if they've made the product available (a godsend for those in the US, methinks).

*Observed by moving the wire over my laptop, while wires are connected to my hearing aids only.

Ultimately, how complex a piece of hardware are DAI cables anyways? They're overpriced and a PITA to attain I find. Were they cheaper, I'd try modifying them more... And too, don't want to mess my aids up with custom circuitry

Regards,
•Eric
