A restaurant at the beach went through a remodel recently, and they tore out all the electrical outlets. Wanted to keep the "professional riff-raff" like us out,

Well, that's not true; they left ONE outlet, at a big table in the corner. After I worked there for two hours, ordered lunch and three coffees, they asked me to move because they had a large party reservation coming in and needed the table.

Serial cafe users are good customers, we just need:
a) electricity
b) wifi
c) caffeine.

What a great attitude from a software developer. I followed TaskPaper through it's development and it is clever. I have a long history trying different outliners. Bottom line is I don't trust filters and views and hierarchy can get out of hand.

I do trust searching and sorting and plain text. I'm a big fan of SimpleNote and of EverNote. I photograph or page clip as much as possible instead of writing.

The original iPhone is three years old.
The 3G is two years old.
The 3GS is a year old.

I have the two-year old 3G iPhone, although I'm happy to hear that your newer 3GS model is still working after purchasing it a year ago. Us 3G folks haven't been so lucky, and I'm questioning the value of paying for another upgrade - if this is how Apple's going to treat customers.

Your iPhone OS 4 upgrade sounds horrible. My experience upgrading my iPhone 3GS to OS 4 was completely different - no problems and it worked faster. I did have maximum memory in the phone and used an Macbook Pro to sync.

You are right about planned replacement - I got the IPhone 4 and gave my 3GS to my son. I had the 3GS only 1 year. I'm sure Apple wants to sell me the next one in only 6 months.

I was "Googling" for DAI cables, and your link popped up. I read through your blog, and found many parallels with your hearing loss situation to mine. Of these parallels, we both live in Oregon, I live in Salem, I lost my hearing at age 4/5, have worn a hearing aid since left ear only. Left ear is profound, and total deaf in right ear, people and speach tech's constantly tell me that I have great speach patterns, I have had a great career as a real estate appraiser and manager, I am currently working for the State of Oregon, I totally understand your comments on the amount of focus it takes to hear, especially in group and noisy settings, I am constantly looking for new an better tools and ways to improve my ability to hear in those situations. For me it is not about loudness, my hearing a good enough job of that, but it is about clarity, absolute clarity. Most everything you mentioned in your blog resonated with what I have been experiencing my whole life also. It is nice to read about someone else who shares similar conditions. I have bookmarked your blog, and plan to visit reguarly. I do computer work for my hearing aid doctor in trade of batteries, ear molds, etc. I am looking at purchasing a new hearing aid in the next couple of months, and have my eye on trying out some of the ones with bluetooth connectivity in hopes of finding better ways to use phones, cell phones, tv, mp3, etc. Keep up the good work on this blog.
